Pismo Beach

We headed down south this weekend to go camping at Pismo beach. This is one of our family traditions and one I have been doing most of my life. Both Athen and Crew have been to Pismo before but this time we went camping (we had a beach house last time). We decided to not camp on the sand dunes since it's a little noise and dangerous for the kids. We stayed at a nice campground right next to the dunes. This was our first time camping there and I must say I really liked it. I think this is where we will be staying each year for the next 5 years or so until the kids get a little older and the sand dunes are more doable.

Athen loved digging in the dirt and playing with his trucks and buckets. When he got tired he would just lay down and play. Of course he had to take his buckets filled with trucks and rocks on a bike ride - one on each handle bar.

Playing in the sand. We walked along the beach to downtown and went to Mo's for dinner.

Grandpa found some seaweed and we played jump rope.
Crew loved playing peek a boo with his blanket and grandpa.
 Mo's BBQ. Our favorite tradition.
Of course we had to teach Athen how to roast marshmallows. They are one of his favorite treats. In fact his favorite potty treat is a colored mini marshmallow. This time he got to roast the big ones. He loved it.

Gotta love this snotty sandy face. Athen digging in the sand at our campsite. He loved being out side the whole weekend.
Look how lovely our campsite was. A nice big grassy area for the tent made sleeping more comfortable. A nice big tree to play on and then sand to dig in. We loved it there.

What a fun weekend! Sad to have missed out. We'll have to plan on it next year :)

Absolutely love the snotty, dirty Athen pic. A classic shot of camping with kids.
