Utah

Is anyone still there? I know I have been a slacker on the blog lately but so have all of you. I haven't gotten a comment for several posts now. I always like to hear from you so please leave me comments. It makes me feel like I have some adult contact in my life with friends.

We went to Utah for a week and I actually brought my camera and took lots of pictures. We decided to drive this time for some crazy reason. We left Saturday evening and drove to Winnemuca and got a room for the night. This was a much better drive then when we drove the whole stretch back home at the end of the week.

I decided to make the boys road trip bins with things to keep them occupied. They each had their own carrier with a box that had streamer wrapped presents (cars, bugs, pez, balls etc.) and a section for treats (also wrapped in streamers) and a section for their water bottles. They loved opening their presents and continued to ask for presents the following week all day long.

The first few days we had free time and spent it with some friends. We went to the lake for a picnic dinner and some paddle boarding with Rick's friends and family. We spent a little time with some of my friends and family. The middle of the week we all headed to Mirror Lake in the Uinta Mountains for the Bingham family camp out.

We had fun camping for 3 days. The weather was nice. We were up about 10,000 feet in elevation so it was much cooler than down in the city. There was 21 of us, lots of cousins for the kids to play with.

The cousins liked to play in this big pile of rocks behind our campsite. They called it the "Rocky Mountains."

We walked around the lake several times.

My cute red head with big brown eyes. Love this guy!
Grandma had all her crafts out for the kids to play with all day. Athen loved making bead necklaces for his whistle that we made him wear around his neck in case he got lost.

Crew enjoyed riding around the campsite with his cousin Megan, plus it made me happy not to be following him around pulling rocks out of his mouth.

Our little nap escapee.

The boys relaxing in the hammock.

Riding in grandpa's truck to the lake to go canoeing.

Auntie Caitlyn, Rick, Rachel, Brynlee and Athen heading out for a ride.

Crew was excited to watch the send off from the shore.

Uncle Ryan made his famous dutch oven ribs.

Cousin Nathan and Athen caught their first fish. Well, actually it was Nathan but Athen was standing right next to him when he caught it so he was more then happy to give Athen half the credit. They fried it up over the campfire and Athen was pretty excited to eat his first fish.

Athen spent most of the weekend on his bike. He loves riding his bike and had the time of his life getting to ride it for several days straight.

Papa took Athen fishing for his first time with grandpa B. They were gone for a few hours but Athen didn't catch anything. There is a good chance it could have been the spiderman pole he was using.

Grandpa and Athen in their fishing gear.

Grandma Bingham, Auntie Jessie and I took the kids on a hike to another lake. They all packed their backpacks (that they made with grandma) with snacks and headed out. Here we are at the lake eating our snacks. It was a few miles round trip so it took a pretty long time. We had several children with Athen being the youngest at 2 so you may be able to imagine how it went.

Our last day in Utah Rick went to the Outdoor Retailer Show and I spent some time with my twin sister and her kids. We took all the kids to the pool and waterslide for the afternoon. It was a fun trip and a long trip home.

Yes! I'm here! Kind of... crazy summer, eh? Loved the totes and presents idea for the trip. I was a total slacker on that one and just gave them each a bag of books. Oh, and we got a DVD player. :) Cute boys!

Your trip reminds me so much of the family reunion trips we used to take when I was growing up, including the camping in the Uintas, fishing, and road trip kits. It sounds like you guys had a really great time :)

I'm glad we got to visit, brief as it was. It looks like the camping was a success! So wish we lived closer. (laura)
