Costa Rica - Day 6

We woke up and enjoyed a nice Costa Rican breakfast and then headed to the beach before it got too hot out. We played in the sand and in the ocean for a bit.

Athen is sitting on the bottom of the papaya tree playing while waiting for breakfast.

Here we are playing on the beach again.

Once it started getting hot we hopped in the car and headed to Monteverde. It took us awhile to get there since it was all dirt roads through the mountains. Once we got there we spent some time looking for a place to stay. We found a super nice resort that we stayed at for the next two nights. It was fancy and fun.
This is the view from the resort.

This was our only place that actually had carpet, super nice beds and a fancy bathroom with a huge soaking tub and separate shower. Monteverde is in the cloud forest so it's cold and there are no beaches near by so carpet is much easier to do. I think this suite was as big as our apartment.

We then went on a night hike with the boys. We put them in the backpacks and had a private guide which was nice. We got to go at our own pace and didn't have to wait for a large group to look at one animal. We saw tarancella, kinkajous, toucans, lots of insects and bugs and a mama sloth with her baby. That white blob below is the mama sloth with her baby attached to her tummy swing from one little branch to another. I thought for sure they were going to fall out of the tree but they didn't.
The kids loved all the animals, birds and insects we saw in Monteverde.
