It is nice that Athen has his own room, we have carpets and he isn't hitting his head on the hardwood floors, the place is baby proof and Athen wouldn't be getting in to things and we have closets. Athough, we gave a lot of furniture and things away to be able to fit into our little box we thinks it is cozy. We do have several of the storage units in the complex filled to the top with toys and things we don't have room for in our apartment, and we still have a few boxes that aren't unpacked yet since there is absolutely no room for anything else in our place or in the storage units.
The most appealing part about our move is that we are managing the apartment complex and getting free rent. This will allow us some time to figure out where we want to eventually buy a house.
The Move
I think this was the worst move I have made. It took for ever to pack up our old house of course. Saturday morning came and Rick and I headed out to pick up our 24 foot moving truck. Of course when we got there they told us they didn't have a 24 foot moving truck available for us (I made reservations weeks before and confirmed them days before). They told us we could take a 16 footer (which would not fit our stuff) or we could go to another location. We ended up having to go to another location and sure enough the truck was not ready. We had to wait around for them to clean it etc. Two hours later we had the truck. Lucky for us the day before they told us our apartment wouldn't be finished until 1:00 on Saturday so we called all our helpers and had them come at 11:00 instead of 9:00. We bought pizza instead of donuts.
It took us a very long time to load the moving truck and this was the easier side of the move (large hallways, big doors and a nice big elevator). We packed that truck to the top and filled the back of my dad's dodge ram pick up. Of course it started raining as we were headed over to our new place. When we showed up, all the workers were still there fixing the apartment. The kitchen was torn apart, the bathroom wasn't finished and they were still painting. We had no choice but to work around them, so we started pilling our stuff up to the ceiling where ever it would fit. It was obvious that we weren't going to be able to sleep there that night. They said they would be able to finish the apartment on Monday. The move took us 6 hours with about 7 big guys helping.
We stayed at my mom's house and were finally able to move in on Thursday. Although the kitchen and the bathroom were still not completed, it was at least liveable. It was very challenging trying to unpack since every thing was piled every where and there was just a small little path way through out the house.
We are still working on it but for the most part it is done. Our next move is going to be into a big house with a 5 car garage to store all our toys plus a big shed in the back to store any thing else we may need to store.
Here are some pictures of our old and new place.

I totally concur! So said you left your cute warehouse! Where did you all move to? What moving company did you use? That happened to my brother-in-law too...so lame!
moving with kids sucks even more
I agree with Alice moving is never fun but with kids it's worst!!! Congrats on your new jobs as managers...we did that too and it helped us save for our house!
Congrats on the new place! Hope you are liking being a manager! We need to hang out again soon. Can't wait to see how you decorate and make the new place yours.
Just reading about you moving hurts my stomach.
Our house wasn't ready when we moved, either, and we also stayed with a mom (Lauren's). Thank heavens for moms--life would be so much harder without them.
