Halloween

For Halloween we headed over to my mom's house in Livermore and hosted a Halloween dinner there. We invited a few friends from our ward to join us. We had chicken tacos. We got a little bit of a late start on the Trick or Treating but the kids didn't know the difference.

Since there are no houses next to my parents we headed down the hill to the neighborhood across the way. There weren't many people out and a lot of the houses were dark and not passing out candy. My mom thinks we started too late. She says people with little kids like ours start way earlier and the bigger kids go out a little later. People want to pass out candy to the little kids not the big kids so they turn of their lights after the little kids come by and before the big ones go out. I guess that makes some sense.

Here are a few pictures of the kids. Notice who is the first to the door in the one picture - me. I have always LOVED trick or treating. Who is too old for free candy right? Anyways, it has been a long time since I have gone so I have been waiting all these years to have kids so I could go trick or treating again. The great thing about it is the next morning the kids don't even realize their candy is missing. Athen isn't a candy/sweets kid any way. After we came home I told him he could pick out two treats to eat from his candy bag. He picked the two cutie oranges that he got from my mom over the candy.  Although, Athen does like lollipops. All my friends use to make fun of me because I would only give Athen two licks of the lollipop and then we would throw it away. I still do this and he is totally satisfied with just the two licks. Crew on the other hand can smell candy a mile away just like his momma can. I don't even give him sweets very often and when I do it is such a small amount. However, he is always reaching and wanting the junk food.

Athen was Bob the builder. He has become obsessed with tools lately. He is always asking to go to the Hardware store or asking if he can fix something. He didn't like wearing his yellow hard hat and all the tools in his belt are behind him but people still recognized him as Bob. Crew was a little raccoon and to my surprise kept his hood on the whole time. He looked adorable. He couldn't say trick or treat but that did not stop him from reaching out his hand, grabbing the bowl of candy and grunting for it. In fact he couldn't keep the candy in his bag. After he got a treat he would reach in, grab the candy out and throw the empty bag on the ground. He ate through the wrappers to get to the candy. We finally started putting his candy into the back of the stroller after each house so he couldn't get to it.

The boys and I made some Halloween decorations with the Silhouette machine. They love making the decorations. We made the spooky tree and a bunch of pumpkins to stick on the spooky tree. However, Crew kept peeling off the pumpkins and eating them so here you see the last few pumpkins. We also made the spiders crawling down the door with bats, witches and haunted houses flying in the sky.
