4TH of July

I know I haven't blogged in a long time but we have been busy and out of town. We have been in Utah for a week and before that we were working on buying a house. Who knew that was so much time and work. As a quick update on our house, it is currently on hold for a few weeks until we get permits from the city to see what condition the foundation is in. The structural engineer is telling us there could be up to $150,000 worth of foundation issues if nothing has been done to fix it. We know some work has been done but we aren't sure how much. So with that being said there is a chance we might walk away. If we don't walk we will be buying a charming little house in Lafayette. It is 2300 sq ft, has 4 rooms and an office, 4 bathrooms and is on 1/4 acre lot. It is at the end of a charming tree lined court. It has great schools, great ward and a great location. I hope we get it.

Now for the catching up part. Before we went into escrow on this house we enjoyed fourth of July in Alameda at the parade down Park St. Athen and Crew loved the parade, not because they were throwing candy but because there was music, funny looking floats and lots of people. After the parade was over we were planning on having a BBQ at the park. However, as you can image the parks were full and we couldn't find a grill. I planned a nice BBQ lunch with steak, corn, potato salad, watermelon, chips & dip and of course cream soda. Sadly enough we ended up stopping by KFC to pick up some fried chicken, cole slaw, biscuits, and potatoes and heading over to the school to play on the playground. It still ended up being a fun day and we saved our BBQ for a few days later.

This was Athen's favorite toy that someone threw to him during the parade. It was a pair of clapping hands. He got a kick out of it. Luckily, he liked it more than the candy.
Here is Athen dancing to the music from the parade.

Here is our KFC picnic at the school.
