Costa Rica - Day 4

We woke up and began our road trip up north along the coast. We drove through Jaco beach to Puntarenas. We were going to take the ferry across the peninsula to Santa Teresa or Samara. However, we missed the car ferry by a few minutes and the next one wasn't going to be for a few hours. The drive around the peninsula was a few hours so we decided to do the drive. Although the drive isn't as much fun as a ferry ride we could be sitting on the beach a few hours soon.

Along the way we stopped off to see the crocodiles in the river. Athen loved seeing the crocodiles. He claims this was one of his favorite animals to see of our trip. We also stopped at some fruit stands for some fresh watermelons and some buko (baby coconut to drink).

This was pretty much what we did for the day - drive. Once we arrived in Samara we went straight to the beach to play before it got to dark. I took everyone to my favorite beach which of course they loved as well. Once the sun went down we started looking for a place to stay and found a place right on the beach. This ended up not being the best move. It was pretty loud until about midnight and we woke up early in the morning to some screaming monkeys and a street sweeper or something. We didn't stay here a second night.

We then headed to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. It was delicious. We had fish and steak tacos and the kids had chicken quesadillas. We then drove around for a bit checking out the town and places we wanted to go while the kids quickly fell asleep in their car seats.

I love the crocodiles, too. I've never seen one not in a zoo. That's awesome.
